Busy Weekend For Viking Dogs!

A Busy Weekend, With Runners at Donny and Sunderand on Saturday.

Of course next week is the Betdaq Premier League at Doncaster on 10th February.  We have several trailers this weekend. In terms of runners;

Saturday 4th February;

DONCASTER:

20:19 Trap 1 Preston Bullit – would like to see him win, he is a young dog and easily capable of it but has been disappointing. Again can’t advise a bet but hopeful.

20:53 Trap 3 Preston Run – she has a chance but can’t advise a serious bet as she is just coming back from a break. Last week she was in with one that was a good thing, so this week she has a decent chance!

21:27 Trap 4 Viking Katie – first run for this pup. Could be overfaced in this grade which is always going to be the case as far as the owners are concerned. I can’t see though how this is right. She will be much better in time but she is exceptionally young.

**MAX BET**

22:18 Trap 5 Boyneside Banty – much better than these. We are sponsoring the race and we should pick up here. The only negative is he has not galloped this week due to frozen track, but same for all of them! Should be far too quick!

Consistency Runs at Sunderland

SUNDERLAND:

19:37 Trap 4  Consistency – I genuinely think Consistency will win this race! He likes Sunderland. Not a strong race and he ran Sunderland really well the other day!

Max Bet Bert Looks Value Now at 7/4

When the Henlow Puppy Derby kicked off a couple of weeks ago we advised COOLAVANNY BERT as a max bet which was on ofer at 7/4. He won his heat after trouble but on Thursday night he went close to the track record and looks unbeatable.

Picture from Racing Post - Click for report

This is what the Racing Post says about the heats (click here) we just say WOW!

The final is Live on Sky Sports on Tuesday evening. Its Game Over for us as Bert gets the one box! They line up as follows;

1 Coolavanny Bert, 2 Fifis Legend, 3 Droopys Stevie, 4 Millwards Boom, 5 Droopys Edmund, 6 Benkaat Blue.

Fifis Legend looks good and we have his litter brother Viking Legend! We also advised Fifis Legend as an each-way bet to win at 20-1. I suggest Bert will be long odds on to win it now!

Viking Announces Sponsorship at Doncaster Greyhound Stadium

Viking Racing has today agreed to sponsor a race every week throughout February and March at Doncaster Greyhound Stadium. The race will be an A1 race, every Saturday, Sponsored by Vikingracing.co.uk.  We are delighted to support Doncaster Greyhound Stadium, where we have several dogs with Jim Hayton.

Last night we had three runners at Sheffield andFarloe Elder ran flat, Ballymac Sally ran very well and Prestonaintalkin’ didn’t finish. We thought the worse but happily he only pulled a muscle and will be fine after a rest!

We have a runner at Sunderland, Consistency, who runs in an open on Saturday.

Doncaster stages the next round of the Betdaq Premier League….

3 Runners Sheffield On Tuesday (Opens)

We have had a bit of sickness in the Kennel but Jim Hayton feels our runners tomorrow are fine, our new dog, Ballymac Sally, gets a run over 720 metres which may be a bit far!

Owlerton Sheffield Greyhound Stadium

3 Runners at Sheffield Owlerton Greyhound Stadium for Viking Racing

Runners;

20-14 Sheffield Trap 6 Farloe Elder – nightmare of a race, cant see him winning at all. Trap 1 I think is a good thing.

21-02 Sheffield Trap 2 Ballymac Sally – over a long trip so lets see if she stays! Not sure she will that far.

21:17 Sheffield Trap 2 Prestonaintalkin has a good chance but has been a bit flat so cant advise a bet.

Sick Dogs!

Cheryl ran below par and the dogs at Doncaster didn’t run their times. Perhaps the fact that there is sickness in the kennel today explains it! Sadly Paddy won’t run at Nottingham on Monday and Preston and Farloe maybe not at Sheffield on Saturday.

We plan to go to Sunderland next week and I have one up in the North East, of my own, that should also get a run there! Lets hope they are all OK.

The Max Bet Local Deejay from the Kelly Findlay kennel won well and put the Dunham team, of which Jim is a member in the running.

Kelly Findlay

Running totals going forward to the third round at Doncaster:
Imperial Rock Its 52.5, Team Desperate 51, Dunham Devils 48.5, Team North East 47.5, The Mad Hatters 35.5, Irish Raiders 29.

Don’t forget Jim has the dogs that know Doncaster and of his dogs we can point to ours;
Prestonaintalkin’ can do 29:54
Viking Cheryl 29:58
Paddy Ya Boy 29:60
Farloe Elder 29:68
Banty – sub 30secs

In my view you should get a bet on the Betdaq Premier League and back the Dunham team to win it. Be a great night of Dog Racing thats for sure!

We Welcome Viking Legend

Sometimes you have cause in this game for genuine excitement and in Viking Legend, (was called Bluestack Legend) we have an exciting prospect. He is a full litter brother to Fifs Legend who was the fastest qualifier (and advised ew at 20-1) in the heats of the Henlow Puppy Derby.

Cheryl at Yarmouth Saturday 28/1/12

We are in good shape now, Boyneside Banty is flying on the schooling track, Viking Cheryl is an exciting puppy and we have Paddy Ya Boy, Prestonaintalkin’, Farloe Elder and the new addition Ballymac Sally who are genuine open class performers.

This week is exciting. Viking Cheryl is in action at Yarmouth in the Betdaq Premier League (Sky ch 433 freeview) on Saturday. Paddy Ya Boy is in a sprint at Nottingham Monday and Farloe Elder and Prestonaintalkin run at Sheffield Tuesday.

The only disappointing aspect is the conduct of others! We bought Ballymac Sally and agreed a price, paid the money in good faith and was told that the required signed transfer authority to register her with the GBGB would be handed over with he bitch. It wasn’t and now we are getting the run around and I have told the trainer where we got her from that I am not prepared to be taken for an idiot and it either gets sorted or I have my money back. There is only one way to play things and that is with a straight bat. It happens time after time with the paperwork. So it is not definite that Sally will be running for us, shame as she is a nice bitch.

I can’t wait to see Legend on the track, and I will ask Jim about taking him to the Monmore Puppy Derby! Watch out for Banty and also young Viking Katie who is now qualified. She will have to grade on and go through the grades but she is such a good looking dog I would be amazed if she isn’t decent! Its looking good for Viking.

Weekend Runners….Premier League for Cheryl

Cheryl Runs in the Premier League on Saturday (28th Jan)

A couple of weeks ago Viking Cheryl went all the way to Yarmouth (from East Yorkshire) only to be taken out at the first bend, her chance gone. She is only 19 months old, and won on debut in Open grade.

The good news is that she is in Trap 4 and the dog that took the others out is on her outside, not inside. She ripped a nail out in that first meeting, but has recovered. She should be fine now, Jim hand slipped her at Dunham and she was fine.

We also have a new dog, Ballymac Sally, which we purchased from Barry Draper’s kennel. She will run in opens and is going to be targeted at staying races.  We also have another syndicate dog that we cant say anything about at the minute, but we will shortly!  She will trial this weekend.

Runners at Doncaster – graded, should be out later today, Wednesday!

Viking Cheryl Scores Open Win on Debut

Viking Cheryl, who we thought was a goood bitch, is exactly that a good bitch and she showed it in an open race at Doncaster when winning easily on Debut….

Trained by James Hayton

I think that says it all !

Prestonaintalkin’ Lands 8/1 Open Race Win @ Monmore

Prestonaintalkin’ has been exceptionally unlucky for us, he is a hugely talented dog and tonight he did the talking at Monmore and landed our first Open Race Win….

Though not advised as a full scale gamble, we did advise members to have a few quid on at a decent price. He was 10/1+ on Betfair and was returned 8/1. A very nice punt!

A big mention must go to our trainer Jim Hayton who has taken what was an A3 dog from Sheffield and turned him to a top class performer. He has given us lots of fun and he is still young! Well done Jim.

Preston Run Lands Doncaster Touch

It was a great night at Doncaster for Viking Racing as Preston Run landed a gamble, backed from 5/2 in to 7/4 and getting up on the line to score.

It was a big week for Viking with Eden Star landing a mighty ante-post touch, advised to members of the club, when winning the Betfair Laurels live on Sky. Another tip that scores!

Preston Run

Paddy Ya Boy and Boyneside Banty trialed at Belle Vue and will be entered in a puppy competition that starts Thursday. Paddy clocked 27.99 for his first look, very pleasing!

One not of disappointment, Doncaster did not put up any of our Dogs for the big St Leger final night live of Sky. Despit having 7 or 8 dogs that run week in and week out, and having done trials at 29.54 and 29.57, with Prestonaintalkin’ last time out contesting a Grade 2 final, they were deemed not good enough! The prize money at Doncaster week in week out isn’t as good as many tracks, Preston Run last night won £40 and the run money is only £15, AND as an owner you have to pay to get in to watch your dogs. In contrast to other tracks where not only is admission free but you are given food and drink! As owners we can feel very hard done by to not have a dog on the track.

Viking Cheryl has not been able to trial as the paper work submitted to Doncaster has gone “missing”. One may say that this is an absolute shambles. Last week I wrote to the track complaining that our dogs are being raced against each other.
