I can’t help thinking that for whatever reason, Big Buck’s hasn’t captured the imagination as some horses, like Kauto Star has, for what is an amazing feat of winning 15 on the spin!

Big Buck's Wins Yet Again!

You have to say that he is absolutely exceptional! Should Big Buck’s claim a record-breaking fourth Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, and he is only 1-2 for that (a good thing) then Big Buck’s will equal the mark of 16 set by Sir Ken back in the 1950s. This is a different time and he just effortlessly gets on with it, he is an amazing horse.

But unlike Kauto Star, he has not captured the wider imagination of the Sporting Public. Don’t get me wrong no one interested in horseracing doesn’t appreciate this horse, but the wider media barely mention Big Buck’s. I just think we are witness to some living legends in National Hunt racing, with Big Buck’s and Tony McCoy gracing the sport, we should enjoy it! As for the wider sporting public, well they don’t know what they are missing!

A couple of years ago at the Cheltenham Festival i was well down, on the Thursday the bookies got cocky and pushed out Big Buck’s, who had been 1-2 ante-post to evens, well i decided to have a proper bet, one of my biggest ever cash bets and it was the easiest money I have ever made! I was lucky enough to be in a box that day, working for the Sun Radio with Jon Gaunt and watched it from the best view point possible! What a horse, I love him!
